Re: Hidden Tool Holding Costs

Ain't no such thing as a cheap tool.

Although I have to admit that I purchase low price square and hex collet for obvious reasons since I do not care about runout.

I also have a rack full of Royal 5C round collets..40+ years old

Re: Safety valve location

The pressure inside a loco boiler js the same everywhere...if you discount the weight of water at the mud ring as measured to the waterline.

Put em where you want em and they look good.

On top of the steam dome tends to carry over less water if the boiler is full.

Re: Monitor for Acad

4 each 32" monitors that I use cost under $200 each. As much as I liked old ACAD, I have found fusion easy to use....but still drop back to acad for somethings...old habits and all that...I still have my old acad 8" floppy. I started using when they introduced dimensioning. Since autodesk is doing n...

Re: Biofuel coal test at Burke Valley RR, UK

Cost of shipping is the current roadblock.

Two weeks ago 20kg of coal would cost $120 to ship from the uk to the Philadelphia area.

A 1 ton pallet sent by ship would probably be worth it...if you live near a port where you could drive in and pick it up....plus the hassle of shipping and customs..

Re: Remote Control thoughts

Yes the 72 mhz radios are still sold and used by many fliers.

You should see what FANUC sells for controlling full size locos if you want an education

Re: Invicta

I have seen one running with a big sievert propane torch stuck into the firedoor. The only notification was to have the original firedoor made a bit larger to accommodate the burner. Never seen one pulling more than 2 adults on a single riding car. How much it will pull is naturally a function of ma...

Re: Fitting and bonding corrugated metal roofing sheets

I have one of those little torches and they are great for small parts.. like jewelry

The problem is going to be heat conduction away from the intended joint with a large piece of metal

Any computer or TV screen can be used. 34" to 80" autocad does not care

Re: Remote Control thoughts

Absolutely true. There are however a lot of non Spectrum units out there that can be interfered with. The one deawback to these units is that if you should lose 'lock' between transmitter and receiver-> it can take a few seconds to reestablish the link...during which time all servos are fixed at cur...
