You could probably run cor or wood pellets if you placed a piece of perforated steel on top of the grate.

Nicely done. I used a similar method to make the slider blocks for mine. The previous owner had already made the radius links. Curious why you see an issue with the slot ends having a radius?

I made these up to weld on the inside of the boiler and smoke box ends. Not a fan of the small bolts around the rim.

Coming along. Curious how your going to bolt the smoke box to the boiler?

Yea, that looks like it could be an issue on the rail.

I am in agreement with you on not using scale distance, as you say way to close to the rail.
I am thinking if used mount with hinges on the top might help some in a derail and at least give it a fighting chance.
