I got my tender kit from them in May of this year. My kit did come with the Pop rivets and I just got a box of 5-40 machine screws and nuts.

When I assembled my tender I used 5-40 socket head flat head machine screws. Talking with LocoParts, he said that is one of the things he does different and he just had not changed the instructions yet.

Locoparts bought the molds and such from Mercer a couple years back. He said he had made a few and decide to do some improvements to the design and molds for better quality from what he got from Mercer. It is NOT one of Richard Ulins castings. The top head where the shuttle head is different.

There was a fellow on the NKP Berkshire Page on Facebook that was putting a booster on his CO Berkshire that he is building using Jim Krieder's castings. He thought of making it a working booster but decided to make it into a water pump. He probably has booster drawings.

I spoke with Jeff at Locoparts. The rivets set you got are not regularly offered by him. He made them special for you based on you using the Palm nailer. He did make a few extra set but are not in his normal offering of items. I can see where using the palm nailer can get you into some tighter spots...

The rivet sets look different then the ones I got? Did he release something new? The rivet buck is the same and it has proven to valuable for numerous things.

If you are getting soot in a propane fired locomotive you have a problem. Soot is sign of incomplete combustion.
