4 x 6 bandsaw conversion for vertical work
Since getting my 7 x 12 Jet bandsaw, I reasoned that I would probably never again be using my little 4 x 6 for horizontal cut-off work. I decided to convert it for strictly vertical cutting. I made guide adapters to take the twist out of the blade, giving me a throat depth of just over 5 inches. I s...

Harbor Freight 20 ton press mods
Here are some mods I made to my 20 ton Harbor Freight press: Air/hydraulic jack, table winch, guide rollers, casters, pinned table plates, release knob, grade 8 frame bolts, finger brake, support pin shaft collars. Also, I have found it obnoxious to give up my ability to use my press when it is occu...

I didn't necessarily plan it that way, but yes, I guess the machine is insulated from the support stand.

Re: DIY Welding Positioner
Electronics consist of a 12 volt dc gear motor driven by an 8 amp Radio Shack power supply and a variable speed control I picked up on Amazon.com. An on/off foot pedal frees up both hands. A variety of speed ranges are possible by switching out timing pulleys and belts. controls.jpg timing pulleys.j...

Re: DIY Welding Positioner
How do you keep from arcing the bearing in the rotary table? Ground is connected to a spring loaded brass rod (brush) that rides against the edge of the table on the work side of the bearings. The bracket that holds the rod is insulated from the rest of the unit via nylon bolts, with nylon washers ...

DIY Welding Positioner
I had no luck trying to sell an old Troyke 9" rotary table, so I combined it with some drill press parts to make a welding positioner:

How I built my CNC plasma table (and bike cutouts)
If anyone has an interest in how I made my CNC plasma table, and the bike cutouts, I have a new website that explains it in some detail. I'm still working on it, but it's up and running at: https://cncplasmadesign.com No ads - not trying to sell anything. arc voltage thc on 2x2.jpg All 19 bikes TT n...

Quick and Dirty Power Drawbar for a Bridgeport Mill
Until I can decide what kind of power drawbar to buy, I came up with this approach to attaching and removing R-8 tooling. A Milwaukee right angle attachment and Milwaukee right angle impact driver provide just the right amount of torque to easily seat and unseat my tooling. If I don't overdo it when...

Re: CNC Plasma Cut Vintage Motorcycles
The dxf files created by the drawing program (in this case CorelDraw) are standard AutoCad format. Most CNC systems capable of converting dxf to G-code should be able to digest them.
