Re: Lower belt for a 10L

And the domino's keep falling. The upper belt is in good shape. The cabinet is enclosed on the left. So how to get the shaft out without removing the entire lower unit? If I can get the pulley off the left end (and that's a HUGE if), I still have to move the shaft right. But with the cabinet enclose...

Current belt is 45".

I'm having zero luck finding a cross reference for the PT442R1 bearings. I was hoping to have the bearings before pulling it apart.

Re: Lower belt for a 10L

Perfect. Got a 5L450 belt on order.

Thanks!

I pulled the old belt off and the bearings on that idler pulley feel ROUGH! Getting that out doesn't look like fun.

Lower belt for a 10L

I have a late 60's, or early 70's era (as best as I can tell) Southbend 10L that I picked up about 18 months ago. The lower drive belt is looking pretty rough. The motor pulley take a V-belt but the upper pulley is flat. I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be or if something was replaced at...

A vise question

That's vise, not vice.

What are these square black caps for? They're in the holes for the external jaws. They don't extend up far enough to hold anything.

Re: 10L Spindle Lock drawing

https://www.yeggi.com/q/south+bend+lathe+spindle+lock/ but honestly - for $20 I would just buy it from the guy and try it. First it's $20 and then another $6 for shipping. Second, if I didn't make something just because it "Only costs $x", there's a lot of stuff I would have never made. I...

I'm thinking about making a spindle lock like one of these:

Before I get started on Fusion360, I was wondering if someone has already created the drawing and would share.

Sorry. I guess that I didn't mention that I want to cut right hand threads.

Reverse threading

Saw a Joe Pie video a while back where he talks about threading in the reverse direction. https://youtu.be/Z-dqOi_z5bk?si=aqMeZci0zozUIKhw&t=264 My old 3-in-1 machine had a carriage stop that would automatically stop the carriage when threading. It wasn't perfect, but it was close enough and I d...

Name that tool, part... 4?

I have put a dial indicator in the opening and it presses down on the ball at one end. So I'm thinking this allows you to effectively reverse the measuring direction of a dial indicator. Or maybe insert it into something. Anyone know where you would need or use this? Does it have a name? PXL_2023091...

Oil dispenser recommendation

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a low volume, spot oil dispenser. I have Goldenrod oilers for the usual lathe and mill maintenance. But I'm looking for something to use for small location/volume use. All the ones I've gotten recently leach out the oil after a while. The one on the right I...
