Re: Advanced throw for turnouts

Hi all
Russ I get the drive thing. I am currently 3 1/2 hours between a couple nice tracks. I will send kitsap an email and see what they are able to share

FLtenwheeler, very interesting design. Not sure if they would survive a winter up here though.

Re: Advanced throw for turnouts

Train Mountain Railroad and Kitsap Live Steamers are equipped with very successful remote turnout controls, made by the KLS crew. Contact KLS to see what is possible for sharing their construction drawings. https://kls.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?sl=1501349131 RussN Hi all Russ do you by chance ha...

Re: Advanced throw for turnouts

Hi all
DRS_RR is using the same style throws that we are going to us. We want to have the advanced throw a little higher so you can use your hand instead of your feet. This is a private non public hualing railroad.

Re: 14000 hr challenger

Hello Friends
Forgot to mention there was also 3 standard challengers that were also assigned to Pacific Northwest passenger service. 3940, 3944, and 3968 never received grey paint or smoke lifters

Re: 14000 hr challenger

Hello Friends Chris, from what I have the 3976 was built in 1943 as a coal burner, changed to oil burning in 1945 and assigned to the LA&SL between Los Angeles and Salt Lake. After it was converted to passenger service in mid 1946 was reassigned to the Pacific northwest, and was repainted two to...

Re: 14000 hr challenger

Hello Friends I am so happy to see a beautiful Union Pacific Challenger. Lovely work. Chris I do have a question though. Are you finishing the 3976 as a coal burner or as the later oil burner that was assigned to passenger service in the Pacific northwest and later freight and helper service in Echo...

Hello Friends
Nice to hear that the engine is still running. I also think that means sale is possibly out of the picture.

Re: Looking for 4-6-6-4 NP Z-1

Hello Friends That is definitely the railroad I was referring to. It is a same that the railroad is lost to time and ownership. I have to say the 3 months it took to build the challenger is impressive. How many of use with small trains can say that. Even my 2-axle diesel took a year, and I'm not fin...

Looking for 4-6-6-4 NP Z-1

Hello friends Many, many years ago my family attended the NMRA Northstar '99 convention in the twin cities. In one of our photo albums was a live steam railroad in a wooded area that had a 12" gauge NP Z-1 Challenger (wood burner), MILW Hiawatha (unsure of fuel), and a 4-4-0 (wood burner). Now ...
