Re: Any of you folks familiar with this layout?

as impressive as barry cone's railroad is, having been there once myself years ago. however after watching the recent videos and what I can personally recall myself. it is NOT at all a steam friendly railroad and here are a few reasons why. 1. no steaming bay facilities at all for people to fire up...

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e

Just for inspiration - here are the "small scale" butterfly fire doors that I have produced as investment castings. I originally designed them for my 3/4" Atlantic but they are also at home on many 1" engines. Mine are manual operation only - steam cylinder is just for looks - cant wait to see Jacks...

It could also simply be that the boiler is foaming due to being so new and potentially oils inside from the...

Re: Boiler check valves

Can someone share drawings for an easy to build reliable check valve for general use in 1-1/2 scale? I’ve found many different variations in all different sizes but it’s hard to find feedback from people who have actually built them. Probably because they just work.... not much to talk about. They ...

esp since no blind drivers.

there are areas at PLS and PVLS where I cannot go....
I am hearing that there is talk of widening the curves on the PVLS "valley line" so that the larger engines are able to run down there.

Google "elmer's engines" lots of very simple plans. I just recently completed Elmer's Fancy oscillating design.

Re: ISO 0-4-0 1.5" 7.25"

The 3/4" 0-4-0 requires constant attention to throttle, water level, axle pump, boiler pressure (via the fire door) and stoking on the fly. it i a VERY BUSY LOCO to operate (and much more fun lap after lap since you are VERY BUSY)...more fun than a barrel of monkeys. It is an example of a steamer w...

Yes I agree with Bill and Keith's sentiments as well, take a drive out and come visit the local clubs to get a feel for what's going on. If you want to visit Pioneer Valley or Waushakum feel free to reach out and I can put you in touch with someone who can tell you the best meets/weekends to visit. ...
