Re: Museum Quality 3/4" Hudson
Price must be a typo with an extra zero. I could see $10k based on other museum quality 3/4” engines that I’ve seen sell in the last 5 years. MAYBE even $20k for the right buyer who is obsessed with owning a museum quality model of that exact prototype but $100k is just fantastical for any 3/4...

Re: steam channel
I can't speak for others, but I care about steam. I have zero interest in other types of propulsion where railroading is concerned. I am also limited to coal firing. I couldn't agree more! I'm 33 and really just getting going in the hobby after a few years of acquiring machinery and learning the ba...

Re: Pattern Making
I've 3D printed several patterns in PLA and had them cast both at professional foundries and at my home foundry. You absolutely have to use filler bondo putty and then sand and paint but it works just fine and you would never know the pattern was 3D printed by looking at the resulting casting.

Re: 3D Print of Driver Pattern
I might be able to fit your patterns on my printer, send me a message if you are still looking for help. I've done many 3D printed patterns and castings both at my home foundry and at professional foundries. At this time I do not have the time to finish the patterns after they are printed so you wou...

Re: IS our hobby dying in Canada?
As it has been stated earlier in this thread; Live STEAM is certainly dying, and it appears to be doing so much more drastically in some parts of North America than others. However "Backyard railroading" (battery power, lawn mower engine, etc.) is not dying and I think is actually growing....

Re: LE CRAB
My Crab steams great (on coal) with a 24" tall stack of 1.5" OD steel tubing (about 1.375" ID). I believe my boiler is about 1" taller than the original design though. John Bailie (who helped me through this whole build) had calculated that this would be a better design. My exha...

Re: Pressure de-rate of pipe fittings, Temperature
Let sleeping dogs lie and stay under the radar seems to be the attitude. Yes you will find that is the general attitude in the hobby and for good fairly good reason. It sounds like you have plenty of experience with AHJ's and dealing with them as part of our hobby is something most of us would like...

Re: Custom Locomotive interest?
Everyone likes to point out the flaws in this idea every time it comes up, and yet over in England there are several companies doing just this. Perhaps the biggest one would be these guys, https://www.steamtractionworld.com/# why they're not making locomotives I don't know but it's a similar enough...
