Re: "Free Flow" boiler check valves from EE

Andy, Here are some links to cross sections of valves I use in industry everyday. The smallest is maybe 3/4" so scaling it down might not work. But every one of these designs has a guided piston like yours. Hope it helps: (scroll down) https://www.frostpoint.net/valves/check-valves/piston-type-...

Re: Brazing, heating and machining 3D printed items

Here is a few pics. The pilot is printed as well. Do a search and you will find pics

Exhaust Pipes
Trunions
Rod cover

Mostly detail stuff. Everything else is machined.

Re: Smokebox high temp paints

If I remember correctly you are running propane, so this is a non-issue for you. For everyone else. When the 0-6-0 was on coal I made a stainless ash pan, that worked great. But, I also had a firebox wrapper that I painted with the same high temp paint that I used on the smoke box. The 1,200 degF pa...

Re: Smokebox high temp paints

Chris, I had my 0-6-0 test bed rigged up with many temperature sensors. One of the sensors was located directly in the center of smoke box about 2 or 3" forward of front tube sheet. Not in the exhaust steam flow. I ran that engine on both coal and propane. At 125# steam I rarely saw over 400 De...

Re: challenger tubing

Is your cold water pump a dummy with the injector feeding through it? Cool idea.

Brazing, heating and machining 3D printed items

I'm putting this out there for everyone's information. A lot of questions get asked about Shapeways 3D printed stainless steel. I have a lot of it on my engine so I thought would share some insights based on my experience over the last few years. The material is basically made up of stainless steel ...

Vilter Corliss

Does anyone have blueprints for a Vilter Corliss coupled to a refrigeration compressor? Vilter lost most of these old drawings in a fire many years ago.

Atlantic Project for sale

This is a project that has been under my bench for 3 years and needs a new home. I purchased this some years ago and found the original build to be lacking in quality. I basically took everything apart and started from scratch. - New frames, binders and spreaders. Bolted to existing pilot and cylind...

Pennsy 6200

Does anyone have the drawing for the drivers for this engine? They where 68" I have to believe they used them on another engine. https://chuckmanchicagonostalgia.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/photo-chicago-train-pennsylvania-steam-engine-6200-an-awesome-monster-1948.jpg Trailing truck drawing wou...
