22 Barrel liner
I am in the process of restoring 2 Stevens Crack Shot rifles, both need relined. All the gunsmiths I talked to say to use JB Weld or epoxy to hold the liner in. Being a machinist I don't like that. What I would like to do is 'thermal shrink fit' the liner into the barrel. I have never done this befo...

Re: Stevens Crack Shot
I have tried that and didn't get the results I wanted. I need a close-up of the parts. I have most of the images off of the web including the Patten Office drawings.
Thanks for the effort.

Re: Boyar Schultz 612
The grinder performed like it should after the belt was tightened.
I have used surface grinder for 40 years and ran into most problems.
This is the first one I have used with a belt drive. Most industrial grinder are direct drive to lessen vibrations.

Re: Boyar Schultz 612
It ground much better after the belt wasn't slipping.
Any thoughts on how tight to tighten the belt? I just used the motor weight to tension the belt.

Boyar Schultz 612
I just bought a Boyar Schultz 612 surface grinder and was having trouble grinding smooth. As I am prone to do I took the cover off the head tower and found a belt drive ( that was loose) from the motor to the spindle. My manual list it as direct drive, wrong manual or has someone changed the motor a...

Re: Metal ID
The metal is non-magnetic and is as silver as aluminum. The pressure of the cylinder is 2500 psi and is held in place with a 71/4"-12 tpi thread, but this on the shaft end of the cylinder and never receives full pressure.. The old end cap is softer than the new one. I was hoping someone that de...

Metal ID
I have manufactured an end cap for a hydraulic cylinder from aluminum that is 7 inches in diameter. When I finished the project I noticed that the old end cap was about 11 pounds heavier than the aluminum one I made. Does anyone know what the original end cap could be? It is a white metal and very s...

My father worked there 30 years and I worked there for 10 years. If you would like a little history I can give you what I remember.
