Also doesn't CN 47 fit into the list of Elesco equipped locomotives at Steam Town?

I have an ELESCO feed water heater booklet 44 pages that has a lot of drawings and information on the pumps, heaters and related parts also part lists. I have it scanned into my computer and can supply print outs. If Interested contact me.

As Promised. It seems that all of the pumps on the engines at work are CF-1 except for the 2929. See below

CF 1 on the CN 47 with piping. Note, this one is missing the cylinder head on the left cylinder.

Here's an interesting one. A CF-0 on the CP 2929. Essentially 1/2 of a CF-1. Also, the heat exchanger bundle is completely inside the smoke box with the plumbing entering in the lower left hand portion of the smoke box.

And finally, the mounting bracket of the CF1 that is on the CN 3377

Thank you so much Bruce! This really helps me! Why is the 47 missing a pump head? Isn't that damaging the exposed inside? Also how did Steam Town weather out the storm?

LSGOD: I would love those pages! This is very nice of you! I think Allen might be interested in the book too!

The side of the pump that is missing the head has been covered with a piece of sheet metal. If the pumps are ever put back into service, they are given a complete teardown and refurbishing. Steamtown had no damage from the storm. There were a few trees knocked down out on the main line and those were cleared quickly. No washout damage.

Great pics Bruce! Thank you for posting them!

That single cylinder pump is interesting. I knew Elesco made the CF-2, but not the little one.

I was going to say that the pump with the missing head was most likely covered in some way. The stack does have a cover on it. The locomotive looks a little rough. The head was most likely cannibalized to use on another pump.

When I worked for NS; we never left things open. There are only so many of these parts still in existance.....not like 70 years ago. If the castings are sound; they can be made to work again.

See attached photos for diagrams of the Elesco CF-1 pump. From the 1929 "Elesco Locomotive Feed Water Heaters: Operation and Maintenance" booklet.

Hope this is useful to someone.
