Re: Silver soldering torches
I have the same torch for propane - however I don't trust that torch for working in pinpoint areas, especially in the firebox... Which is why i'm trying to get set up for oxy acetylene with the smaller victor torches i was given.

Re: Silver soldering torches
Forgive me but without hijacking this thread and on the same general subject -- pickling. One of my mentors, Roy of Golden Gate Live Steamers, taught me to use battery acid. Then, God rest his soul, he passed away. I purchased a small container of battery acid from an auto parts store. I've only used a very small amount of it straight as it comes from the container. Discussion on other threads may suggest using a 10% solution but my container only says sulfuric acid. Is there a good thread already here that covers more of the ins-and-outs of pickling that I can be pointed to?
Blondihacks (ref. about three comments above this one) suggests using Sparex No. 2 Pickling Acid Compound which appears to work well. Would this be a better and safer solution for me? Can I take it that it's still pretty nasty stuff? I live in earthquake country so I would certainly have a positive lock lid (with a vent?).
I've only done small stuff like piping/tubing.

Re: Silver soldering torches
I got the ebay link Bill posted above! looks great quality but the fitting is very different to the other ones posted. With the valve body have a female rather than male connection.
Maybe that was a different version being sold. Don't think it will mate with the burners from the pdf or that Bob posted. https://sievert.se/wp-content/uploads/2 ... rt_ENG.pdf
Attach is a pic of my handle.

Re: Silver soldering torches
What is on the other end of the silver pipe?
Too many things going on to bother listing them.
Re: Silver soldering torches
that's it.
so maybe I could buy the cyclone or other nozzles and put on it, but they look like they are a smaller fitting. The other nozzles mostly look like they screw on directly at the handle to a male fitting. This set didn't actually come with a nozzle, so I'll have to find one.

Re: Silver soldering torches
That is the standard end for one of the big blowtorch units.
Not interchangeable with smaller heads.

Re: Silver soldering torches
interesting. So I wonder If there's a "neck" that can attach to the female threaded handle and run the smaller burners

Re: Silver soldering torches
Doubtful
The units that I have use a thread/ seat that is a cast / machined part of the brass valve assembly.

Re: Silver soldering torches
well darn! seems all I need would be a male to female adapter and I could run the smaller units. didn't realize there were different fitting types on the 88 series. I guess I should have read up a bit more.
Re: Silver soldering torches
Assuming you have a screw cutting lathe, nothing should prevent you from making the necessary adapter.
