Before, the posts were on the right and information about the poster was on the left. Now it’s reversed. Unfortunately, I’m nearly blind in the left eye, which complicates reading. Any way to reverse the layout?
Hmmm. Before? Do you mean before the update that was performed last week?
Yes.
If so, the layout hasn't changed with Allan style subsilver, but it's as you described. Mike made it clear that many of the board type options had been eliminated. If, by chance, you know which one you had previously and it served your needs, please make mention on the board so Mike can do a search to see if it's available.

Unfortunately, I don’t recall which layout it was—it definitely wasn’t any of the ones currently available. I had configured the layout some years ago and hadn’t looked at it since.

That being the case, is it possible that there's a place where the board can be viewed as history? If so, the board type should be displayed on one of the pages. Worth a look if you have a clue about where to look. I know so little that I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Seems as though another forum feature has disappeared.

Prior to the software update, there was a setting on the control panel that when enabled would cause a new browser window to be opened when clicking on a link that went off-board, e.g., clicking on a link to Youtube. The “switch” for controlling that setting seems to have vanished. Did it get relocated or is it truly gone?

I did some looking on the WayBack Machine, but couldn’t find a snapshot of anything Chaski that would reveal the forum style. Browser history won’t help, since it will merely display the current rendition of whatever page is being viewed.

Hello,
I have not been able to read through all the comments yet, but summarizing what I quickly read.
1. It would be nice to have replacements for the missing styles. I will see what new styles replicated the old ones that are no longer supported. I will try to add a couple more tomorrow.
2. Open links in new tabs. I think I found a new extension to do this. I will add that tomorrow too.
Please feel free to add to this summary.
Thank you for your comments and your patience.
-Mike

Open external links in new window is now active. (It is not perfect, but it works pretty good. For example, if you have a link that is this.that.otherthing.com.pe, it may mess up. But for normal look links, it seems to be okay.

Style "basic" and style "MyInvision" have been added back.
I think I am just missing "se_square_left", but it does not seem there is a new version.

If you would like to suggest a style, please browse:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styles-2

I can't promise I will add 50 styles! but if you think a particular style is a good idea, I will see what I can do!

They do open a new window. However, at least with my browser (Seamonkey, which uses the Firefox rendering engine), the newly-opened window has no menu bar, tool bar or search window. Something strange with the HTML that is being generated.

The basic board style did the trick. Posts are now on the right side of the screen.

Thanks!

Thank you for all your effort to keep this board up and functioning well, Mike.
Much good info and many helpful people. Easy to take it for granted.

Ditto. It's one of the bright spots in every day. And thanks, too, to Harold for keeping things in line. :!:
