Two English gents and locos
Two English gents and locos
Some gentlemen taking their locos out for a stroll. Anyone recognize them or the locos?

Hi
if you look at the riding cars they have names on them, so it is quite possible those are the owners of the locomotives, Pat.

The top loco looks as though it could be a 'Southernised' 3½" Gauge Maisie. The second loco looks like a 5" Gauge Butch.
I would guess that the names on the riding cars are possibly those of past members or maybe members who sponsored their construction?

Dare I ask where and when?
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I did a search and found a hit on Google for "Jack Mercer" and "Live Steam." It led me to a Locomotives Great and Small article that said he was a U.K. builder in the 1970s. It gave a couple of club names, but I don't know if that is the club where the car is. My guess is that the names are an honor to long-time (deceased?) members of a club.

Hey...I am a builder from the 70s...
Does not mean I am dead...or if I am, nobody told me yet.
The plastic chairs in the background do not look like 1970 vintage.

Bill - If you see your name on the side of a club riding car you might as well surrender and just lay down for the count.

Club cars around here do not have the straddle boards, so not likely to happen.

Come on it's in the UK I think about 90% of the country is involved in the hobby in one shape or form or another and you expect us to know their names?
I am only half joking but the level of enthusiasm for the hobby is almost unimaginable for the average American!

Early 2000's near Belper, Midlands. Sorry, I can't be more precise, but...I'm not dead yet!
