Now what have we here?
Hello My Friends
The Fed Ex truck made a delivery today. Now this is very interesting, two large crates. According to the label they came all the way from England. I'll have to get busy unpacking them to see what's inside.

Why it's your annual shipment of cold gruel and moldy bread! Like bananas, gruel and bread are shipped out well in advance so they'll be ice cold and nicely molded when they arrive. Bon appetit!

The box on the right looks long enough to be a locomotive... The one of the left looks short enough to be a tender...

Hello My Friends
Steamer Al is on the right track. Time to start unpacking things. Let's start with the small box. There were quite a few screws holding down the top of the box. The cordless drill made quick work of them. The top came off only to reveal a bunch of giant peanuts. Here we have dug out most of the peanuts. Whatever is inside has been plastic wrapped down to a piece of plywood that was screwed down to the bottom of the crate.

Re: Now what have we here?
Once the plastic wrap was removed there was a layer of tissue paper.
Finally the tissue paper was removed. Well...it's definitely not a New York Central model.
I have always liked British steam. Some of their engines were really beautiful with their dark green or deep chocolatey red paint jobs. I have never liked blue engines. Sorry Thomas. They often had multi color lining and beautiful lettering with shading and drop shadows. This little tender will be great for high line running as it's so short. It also has working brakes that you can tie down by winding the brake staff.
Now I'm very partial to American steam. But I must admit I like German steam too. With its red wheels and red lined side rods. Why limit yourself

Ok, now we're getting to the good part, the big crate. Same thing, the top was held down by gaggle of screws.
More peanuts
More plastic wrap.
And finally...more green paint.
And another look at the cab area. On British engines this is usually the fireman's side.

Beautiful! Love the green. Made by Silver Crest?

Reeves makes a lot of 3.5 gauge too

Always thought a Britannia or LMS Princess royal class would be really neat in 1.6 scale 7.5 gauge.
