Yep, without perseverance not much gets done. I work on mine just about every day along with remodeling a bathroom at the same time.
Re: 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0 build
Setting up for boring the rods took a little thinking. Drilled and reamed the pivot point on the rod more to come on that later.. Stepped off the drive journal drilled and bored. Turned a slip fit stub to the bore and a taper at the last to capture the dummy rod which has a slightly larger bore. Used a coaxial indicator to locate the second bore. The drill press vise is used only to hold the rod in place when the tie downs need to be moved. Jim

Rods for 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0
There is a lot of satisfaction in figuring out the setups and finally having made a nice set of rods.
Keep up the good work.

Drilled and tapped for zerk
Drilled root of fork and sawed. My cutter did not quite reach the bottom of the hole. Will file later
Cleaned up slot with a cutter
Located reamed hole with a coaxial indicator
The pivot pin was made out of a shoulder bolt with the head cut off.
