I guess I should have drilled the links on the fixture plate but didn't so to line them up I drilled and reamed a center for a pin to locate on. Getting the pin and it square all at the same time was frustrating but once lined up I could remove the first one and install the other to cut.

Thanks Steve, i chose to use 4140 annealed for the link and will use bronze for the link block. i plan to make a few sets to have on hand but i would think they will stay in tolerance for quite a while. Jim

Are you hardening the 4140 or leaving as is?

Hi Mountaineer, my thought is as long as my link block is softer than the link it will be fine. The amount of running that most of us will do and spare link blocks I should be covered for my life time. Does the link block wear the most at the slide or the pin? Jim

The few long distance champs I’ve seen it’s the pin for most wear. I was just curious what your thoughts were.

I’m sure Marty and others would know more than me.

A set screw holds the eccentric rod pin to the link.
The bearings were a little tight so a little tooth paste was used to give better clearance.

Earlier I said I would make the link block out of bronze. My on hand 3/4" bar may be 360 brass if they wear I made a second set to replace them and at that point would have to setup and get some bronze.

When I fabed up the eccentric arms the prints were for castings and no dimensions for the profile. Well i was a little robust on the size and i had to relieve the bumps. The reverse arm was a drill and bend and the reverse shaft arms were tapered pinned on the shaft.
