Re: John's Clishay build log
Bill- what is the purpose of the Pressure Gauge "syphon tube" - a tube coming out of boiler with a loop in it to connect to gauge? I cant find any explanation on this....

Re: John's Clishay build log
That tube will fill with water as the steam condenses in it. That will then keep the steam away from the Bourdon tube in the gauge, where Steam heat would damage it.

I lost my power supply in a move to new shop. I can only look for it for so long! thanks

Re: John's Clishay build log
A quick internet search revealed this:
" I have the Shooting Star Model CBX-3d and the power supply is: 120Vac, 52ma with output at 7.5Vac."
I suggest you contact the sellers of this DRO to acquire a replacement power supply.

Re: John's Clishay build log
RssN, I understand that the company is no longer. NO info in manual. A 7VAC supply might be correct, but l that is a very odd power supply if so.
9VDC or 12 VDC would be more likely.
Comments online range from 12VDC to 9 VDC or AC and so on. Hard to tell what the supply may have been from all the comments. Thanks, John

Sounds like one of those small, black plug in power supplies to charge various little things like flashlights, radios, pagers, etc.
Look for one of those. I’ve seen a set sold with one transformer plug in, and adjustable voltage with different end plugs. 52 ma tells me it’s small.
There are a million of those things in boxes at garage and estate sales.
