from what i hear - crankshafts are worth their weight in gold....

Crankshafts and propeller shafts are still out there, but getting harder to obtain, as they are basically being hoarded.
If you were a boat racer, the first thing you did was remove the propeller shaft/reduction case and toss it in the dumpster, as it wasn't needed...

Yep! That's exactly what I mean.
Also, a long-standing joke back in the day about British automobile engine manufacturers was they didn't understand that oil is a liquid and it’s necessary to seal the engine so it doesn’t leak out.

Interestingly, the magnetos are Rotax (Lucas) and aren't too bad!
