Benchman XT CNC Mill

Post by bjorn toulouse »

I recently picked up a Benchman XT, and I wondered if there are any other members with similar machines.
45K rpm spindle, with cooler system, that uses ISO 10 toolholders, and a 12 tool umbrella style tool changer.
26" X 7.5" table, X-Y-Z travels of 18"-7"-9.5".
SMW 5c 4th axis.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has a Benchman XT.

I want that. That's all I know at the moment.

I have one but I haven't gotten it to work. I don't know whether to use it for parts for my CNC gantry table (tool changer and spindle) try to figure out how to fix it or just sell it as is. In the past, I've gotten the spindle to run and the axes to move but no luck with the chuck or the TC platter - yet.

If your control is bad or archaic, (I have no idea what kind of control came on it) then consider upgrading the control. A machine that is already CNC is generally much easier to upgrade than build from scratch. The ATC does lend some complexity but doable. It would be a shame to cannibalize a machine like that if it just needs some control work.

If you are in or near AZ maybe we could work something out? 8)

Nice machine. X and Y travel is good, Z axis sucks. My Tormach has 16.25 inches of Z axis travel. 9.5 inches is really limiting. ISO 10 tool holders? I have seen ISO 20's on the Haas Office mill. ISO 10's must be really tiny. A 45K spindle would be great for little tiny cutters. I do a lot of work with .010 4 flute end mills, and I only have a 5,140 RPM spindle.
You can buy good parts, or you can buy cheap parts, but you can't buy good cheap parts.

Hi everyone.

I have a nice Benchman vmc 4000 with a toolchanger for sale.
I've used the machine for many years but I'm out growing it as my business grows.
The machine will cut aluminum, plastics, steel, and titanium.

The machine comes with a steel stand.
4 x iso 10 toolholders
4 pocket wine rack style toolchanger
Flood coolant system
Tooling plate on table
Hp computer recently upgraded.

I'm asking $5000 cdn or best offer.

The machine is located in Mission BC

We have a facebook group dedicated to owners of ProLIGHT and Benchman (both machines made by Intelitek in NH). You might want to post this for sale on there 8)
