1.6" and 2.5" Safeties Expected Late June - Preorders Available

Post by AnthonyDuarte »

Hi all,

I'm pleased to let you know that the 1.6” and 2.5” safety valves are now available for pre-order! Current estimated delivery date is late June.

1.6" Safeties can be pre-ordered here:
https://www.eccentricengineer.com/safet ... fety-valve

And the 2.5" Scale valves here:
https://www.eccentricengineer.com/safet ... fety-valve

Ordering in advance is not required. I am making enough to last for (hopefully) a while, so you can certainly wait until they are in stock if you are not comfortable paying in advance.

But, pre-orders will go a long way towards ensuring that these valves are delivered on time. The cost of 1000+ castings, springs, and other raw materials adds up quick!

The only variable currently out of my control is the spring manufacture, which has given me a delivery date of June 12th. Provided there are no delays with the springs, everything else is looking good for maintaining the late June timeline.

Thank you!

Safety valve project is nearly complete. All that’s left to do is square up the springs and finish the boiler adapters.

I expect to start shipping valves next week after 4th of July.
Now would be a good time to order if you’re interested!

1.6" safeties have the option of 1/8" or 1/4"
2.5" are 1/4" or 3/8"

To add to that, a notable number of people have asked which pipe size they should use if they haven’t tapped their steam dome yet.

It really does not matter and is entirely a matter of preference. The hole through the center of the adapter is the same diameter on every size, and the pipe thread has no impact on the valve’s performance.

As of today all the 2.5” scale safety valve orders have been shipped, and about half of the 1.6” safety valve orders have been set. The rest will be set on Monday. If finished early enough they will ship Monday too, if not Tuesday.

There’s still plenty of valves to go around!
