Bauxite is still mined in the U.S., but since 1981 the bauxite mined has not been used to produce aluminum, only other industrial purposes such as abrasives.

Maybe, but the 1, 2 HP pump motor shaft I cut from the rotor cut like 10L14I'll bet those are pretty high-grade steel.
