Actually they do make a 12 position turret that will take 4 drop in holders that are held with a wedge. Dorian quadra and they are really expensive. Not something most would need in a home shop.

Yeah, I seen those when looking for this one however as you say way too expensive for the average hobby shop.

3 side would be useful if working with a sub spindle.

4 side if sub spindle and opposite side tools.

Both are rare.

Like Dorian products...they have (had) a small turret that you could bolt on to a manual machine

So, I got my tool post installed today. I really like it as it took less than 2 minutes to set up a facing tool that left no center nub, yey!

I'm a little curious about the angle of the compound. Most folks leave it set so they can generate 60° threads without making any changes. Yours appears to not be set accordingly. Is there a reason?

I set it to 30 degrees to recut the MT3 taper I had in the lathe when I was working on centers and left it there. I have never had the need to cut threads on this lathe.
