A strip of 2mm thick steel, 30 mm wide as a track for the wheels to sit on might shed light.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Bill, those wheels are 50mm wide...
I put some plate under the front wheels today, measurement reveals 1mm compression of the tire.
Tomorrow I'll try to find time to take the tires off and try it directly on the solid steel wheels.

I suspect that's going to make a considerable difference in how it rolls. Given the amount of crush, you're trying to roll a wheel that isn't round.liveaboard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 7:05 pm Tomorrow I'll try to find time to take the tires off and try it directly on the solid steel wheels.

Re: Castor wheels for the mill
It is definitely easier to move without tires.
I think most of the difference is the easier sliding of the wheel on the floor during castor rotation.
I only changed the front ones, the rear carries a lot less.
The finished lift pump;

Who needs tires anyway?

And I did a lot of work to get that material and make it fit!
Oh well.
