Crossing gates
Hi All, our gates are getting pretty tired, and we are considering replacement, looking for options and possibly suppliers, we are running on a 7.5 “ gauge, currently the gates are controlled pneumatically through poly tubing, the system does work for the most part.
If it ain’t broken keep working on it until it is .

Re: Crossing gates
I built my own based on an article in Live Steam Magazine by Kenneth Schroeder in the Nov/Dec 1997 issue. Like yours, he powered his with air. Being as I operate mine in the dead of winter (Christmas), I had to make mine all electric so it would not freeze up due to moisture in the supplied air. I have added a couple of photos.
Good Luck,
Terry
The wheels are on a sub base bolted to the base so I am able to move the signal out to put into the display and back when we take down the display.Good Luck,
Terry
