Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I thought I sent a bit of the history on the engine last night but I see it didn't come through. Thanks for posting the site to look it up. The TRRA Historical Society has an interesting article on the train in their Summer/Autum 2000 issue.
In doing this engine, I used an H O plan of the Commodore Vanderbilt from the 1934 Model Craftsman Magazine. I had it blown up to 3/4" scale and then cut it between the last driver and the rear truck. I then added the right amount between the two pieces for a Mohawk and drew in the missing lines so I had a side elevation to go by. This engine, like the Commodore Vanderbilt is not a scale model but really a close representation of the engine.

You going to have any the cars to go with it? I am ready for the buffet and drinks in the dining and bar car.

Rob,
It's the Rexall Train. You get aspirin, toothpaste and inconstitutionals aboard this train!

I had it running in an unstreamlined form before she went into the shop for the beauty treatment. It will stay as an alcohol burner since, like the Commodore, you can't get to the tubes very easily. Also, the space between the tender and the cab is quite restrictive also which prevents shoveling fuel into the firebox.

Well, I finally finished the tender for this locomotive. It has been quite a job from the paint all the way to the lettering. Even with the lettering done, I now notice that the NEW YORK CENTRAL on the tender should have been a bit smaller. It will have to do for now. Since steaming season is pretty well over this year, the engine will have to wait for spring to stretch her legs.
