Here's a photo of the stays all soldered ... there were a few that leaked, so it was back to the furnace.

Those two holes in the backhead for the longitudinal stays were placed too high, so i ended up adding two fixed stays to the backhead about in-line with the gauge glass bushing.

Here's the setup for heating. I used a Turbotorch to concentrate heat for flowing solder.

The stays were a lot of work. I do not suggest that anybody try a keyhole type firebox in 3/4-in scale for a first boiler project.

Yippee!

That's got to be a great feeling looking at the gauge!

To borrow a phrase from sportscasting: "It's up, and it's good!"

Nice job and thanks for the play-by-play.

Hi Andy
Most excellent thread on the boiler construction. Your workmanship is top notch. Can't wait to see the boiler in person at the Spring Meet.

Ah...good to see that someone else leavs the stays sticking out then grinds them off to suit.

Thought I was the only troglodite doing that...
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Andy -- Superb workmanship and a big boost for smaller-scale live steam. Thank personally, and in the name of Humanity; not much of this sort of skill and dedication comes along these days in any field, so congratulations!
