Silver Solder

Post by Vance Nickerson »

I have used up my supply of silver solder and bought some Stay-Silv 15 to finish a project. It's not near as good as the old cadmium stuff but I can't find anything locally. Ordered the 15 from MSC and it was fair but before I order a large amount anyone have a better suggestion? I don't have a catalog for Mcmaster Carr so use MSC.

McMaster has the world’s best online catalog. That said, RioGrande.com is a good source for lots of flavors of sliver brazing alloy.

Hello My Friends
I have tried the non Cad. variety of silver solder and it was disappointing at best. MC Master has the variety containing Cad. It works great and flows like silver solder should. :D

I assume the 15 means 15% silver? I hope this is not for a boiler.

To get non-CAD ss that flows like the CAD solder, you need a higher silver content, like 55 %.
