Check with David Bortz at Superscale. He has Elesco superheater plates.

This one is from Baldwin. Per the annotation in the lower left It appears that it's a BLW tracing of an Elesco drawing and I'm guessing it's a standard design. C.O. 1163 in the upper right was an order number annotated by Lima and is for a class of USATC 2-8-2s. At least a couple of the USATC WWII designs were made to a common set of drawings by more than one manufacturer.

If you can't find anything more definitive, you are probably safe using the drawing I posted. It's dated 1941, only two years before the FEF-3s were made, and was specified for the entire production of the USATC S-160s which were built from 1942 through 1945. This is per a Lima card index which specifies use of the BLW drawing and says the plate was provided by Elesco. The plate would have been the same for S-160s made by Lima, BLW, and ALCO, as the parts interchanged between the three manufactures.

The drawings Mark posted are a slightly different style and date from about 1920.

It is possible that the FEF-3 super heaters are configured differently than the S-160s so different patent numbers might apply.

Where is the Elesco patent plate placed on the FEF-3? Possibly on the right side of the smokebox hidden by the "elephant ears?"
