Roger goldmann still around?
Roger goldmann still around?
I’m looking at getting the usra on air from Roger as well as the drawings for the big boy but I can’t seem to reach him via email and cannot find a alternative method of communication is he still around/involved in the hobby?
Re: Roger goldmann still around?
Not sure on this, but I'd try calling vs email.
Re: Roger goldmann still around?
What number do I try? I didn’t see a number anywhere on the site

I was able to reach him via phone
Re: Roger goldmann still around?
Are his castings etc still available? I've heard from some that he is no longer an active supplier.

I would be " VERY" careful dealing with Roger these days .
He use to be very reliable and his product was very good - BUT -
I've heard do not deal with him you will not get what you have paid for .
You have been advised proceed at your own risk - sorry to say .

Re: Roger goldmann still around?
Yes I know of 2 people that had issues dealing with him , for what ever reason he would not ship the parts they had ordered and one of them ended up driving to Rogers place and getting them across state lines ( is that the term ).
I know nothing about the drawing side of things but I think you can read between the lines .
If you look up Roger Goldmann on this site you will find issues with his delivery - I remember maybe 4-5 years ago 2 guys ordered running chassis and payed up front only to never receive what they payed for and it was only because it was bought up on this site that it was sorted out and they got there money back but it was a fight to the end .
If you require drawings look up UPHS they have full sets on CD you can buy very cheaply and then you print what you require this is the best way to go .

Re: Roger goldmann still around?
Sadly Roger is jot in good health. I asked him if he wanted to sell the businesss,
Roger told me that he has had the business for thirty years and that is all he has.
The business is all he has to keep him alive, very sad!

Re: Roger goldmann still around?
The sad part to the hobby is that any value that his products ever had are likely to pass with him. I've seldom heard of successful passing of the value except when the owner carefully plans and works out the transition in advance. The estate seldom knows what is really what and how to get value from it and to pass it on for the benefit of the hobby. So much if not cared for correctly becomes worthless or lost.

Re: Roger goldmann still around?
Did not know he was sick, wishing him the absolute best.
Roger has a massive cache of designs and parts - everything from USRA 0-6-0 - 4-6-2, 2-8-0, then of course the UP 4-6-6-4.
It would be awful to see those designs cease to be offered. He should at least think through and come up with a plan to keep his product line going well beyond him, even if he holds onto it for the time being if he wants to see his passion live on.
It's the same with Mike V at one time talking about how he tried to buy Klamath loco works - owner turned it down and now look where it is....
