Very nice locomotive. I have to say i like the sitting in the tender like that.

I believe that was the same locomotive and line that was featured in Live Steam Magazine sometime in the early 1970s. I know that the article in L.S. was about a man from Georgia who built a large scale Hudson. Surely there aren't two of them! If I recall correctly, the line that he built was a large loop that had no switches. It ran through the middle of his barn/shed where he stored the locomotive, and he would open both doors and highball it right through the barn when he ran. It was an odd gauge, like 11" gauge or 10 1/2" gauge or something like that.

I have never heard what happened to all of that stuff. You know it's bound to exist somewhere, stored in a shed or barn or something like that for the last 40 years.

That is certainly a large scale loco. Appears the wheels are right out at the edge of the car body. That would make the gauge greater than 12”. 13”+ gauge maybe?

Would be very interesting to see where it is now.

This is a 2-1/4" scale scratchbuilt model of a NYC J-1 Hudson. I believe it is 10-1/2" or 10-1/4" gauge. There has been some chatter as of late on a couple of live steam FB pages and I do recall this engine being featured in Live Steam magazine back in the early 70's I believe. The locomotive, quite unfortunately for us, is rumored to have been bought by a Las Vegas casino and suspended from the ceiling in a casino but no one has ever seen it or produced any real evidence of where she is today.

I read on facebook somewhere that it was in Kansas city in some museum. but no evidence to support that either. it's a very unique engine for what it is. anytime I come across rare vintage live steam equipment, it's amazing.
