I do both. Propane allows me to concentrate on the track...coal is ...well...it's coal..
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Had a great time this weekend running the Huntington at a local friends home railway. We had the family out and ran it for an hour or so. I think I’m finally getting the hang of keeping the fire hot and proper boiler feeding.

Glad you had a great time. However, all I see in the photos is a “black cat in a coal mine, in the dark”. (?)

Thank you, there was a lot of my grandfathers life put into this engine.
It usually takes me a couple hours cleaning the outside of the engine of all the coal ash and such. And about another hour to drop the ash pan, open the smoke box door and brush out the flies. But to me it’s worth it every time to make sure she shines at the start of every steam up.
