Driving axle box lateral

12" radius makes no sense to me for a 7-1/2" gauge loco. I figure you have to assume opposite side movements, not just one side lifting compared to the other. Seems to me the proper radius would be whatever it is from the frame centerline to the sliding surface in question. Probably something like 3-1/2" outside lip, and 3" inside lip, off the top of my head.

I'm with asteamhead; I machined 2 degree tapers into my mikado boxes.

and then you need to think about how much actual raise the locomotive driver will see.. I mean these are one rails. not a jeep on the back road :)
this is just one of those "over engineering" area in the hobby imho.
If it is not live steam. its not worth it.
