A blub in the engine house reduces warm up time?

Theoretically it is a correct statement...right along with use of warm water to reduce steam up time.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I wanted to post one more shot of the Norfolk St track site, this photo that was taken by the following week after the club had its Annual meet.
The photo was taken Sept 6th, 1975, George Hildreth was President of the club from 1964 to 1984, when he decided to finally step down, and also became a life member of the club.
George built his engines with the simplest of tools, he had a 6-inch atlas lathe, a drill press, and some hand tools, but managed to built and complete all these locomotives. When he needed his cylinders for the locomotives to be made he asked a club member if he would be willing to do the work.
The boilers for the locomotives came from hydraulic cylinders from where he worked at Perini's in Framingham, Mass as a finish carpenter.
George was told he would be lucky to finish one locomotive by one of his friends, at Perini's he build six locomotives all but one has not been found yet.
The last locomotive that George build was a B&M Berkshire, as seen in the photo,, he build all with a little help, and basic hand tools.. George Hildreth and his Locomotives.jpg
Pat, Thank you for sharing the picture and history, that is a great story!

Did you mean that 5 out of the 6 engines are missing?

Or 5 out of 6 are known and only 1 is missing?

IIRC. CAP Purinton's home shop was not much more extensive... maybe a 9" SB with a milling attachment...and he built what.. 14 locos?

Every one that I saw was a good runner.

Goes to show that it is the workman not the workshop.

Hi All
To answer Franks's question only one is missing the Berkshire, no one knows what happened to it. The only information that I know about the Berkshire, is that George Hildreth Jr. sold the locomotive to someone in Mendon, Mass, an antique dealer. Then the locomotive just disappeared.
In the photo. from Left to right all locomotives are 3/4" scale
B&M Berkshire, 2-8-4, location unknown,
Central Vermont 2-10-4 once owned by Joe Cardelle WLS and sold by Joe Cardelle,
B&M 4-8-2 owned by Club Member Bob Foster
B&A 4-6-4 Hudson this locomotive is owned by the WLS and is sitting in pieces to be rebuilt at Jay Berry's home.
Erie Pacific 4-6-2 now owned by a person from the Montreal Live Steamers and has been rebuilt.
B&M # 1455 2-6-0 this is still owned by the Hildreth Family,
