I got the idea right here from one of our members, I think he mentioned it used on an Allen Mogul. Maybe if you filled the pipe with charcoal and let it burn off to heat treat it you could split it no problem. I just used a portable induction heater at an outage I worked. A 110 volt hand held unit, pretty slick. We wrapped a flex cord from it around a 4” dia. Solid steel coupling and heated it up to 350 degrees in 2.5 min. Also worked great softening the pipe dope in 4” pipe thread joints, softened em up and they came right apart. Its called Bolt Buster, I can think of alot of uses for that sucker.
