NYC Niagara

Post by Steve Bratina »

On Saturday, this engine had steam in it for the first time in many years. It also allowed me to test the alcohol burner. The test went very well with only one glaring mistake made on the rebuild. With that fixed, it is back into the shop to put the rest of the details on. Hoping for a September test run. I sent the history of the engine to Daris at IBLS. Should eventually be posted there.

What happened to the 7.5 gauge Niagara that was being built in Florida?

Pete Bialecki of North Ft. Myers was building a 7.5" gauge Niagara but he passed away before it was completed. It was sold from the estate, but I don't know where it is today.

Done. Had a good run but need to open the holes up on the fire door a bit more to allow more secondary air into the firebox. Also needed to set the right side valve just a bit. Going out again today for a run. The only thing that is missing is having Harold Crouch there to try it out.
