Hi Christian,
I have read through your build on Panki's forum. Fantastic work!

Re: Nathan D.V.7 Lubricator
I have a couple of circa 1940 booklets put out by Nathan, one on the DV series lubricators and one on the DV-4. They include a number of line drawings. you should be able to scale the drawings from the mounting bolt spacing. Send me your email address by PM and I'll send you copies.
FYI, Steamtown has a massive collection of Nathan drawings, including the drawings of individual parts used for machining them in the factory. I have obtained a number of the drawings for our Alaska Railroad 557 restoration, including the drawings for internal injector parts, such as the cones. Several year ago I was told Steamtown even has some of the foundry patterns for Nathan parts.

Re: Nathan D.V.7 Lubricator
Just curious. Have any of the super detailers included simulated terminal checks in their simulated lubrication lines? On the prototypes they are placed at the device being lubricated. They are a combination of a check valve and a pressure relief valve so that the oil doesn't feed until there is at least 275 psi in the oil feed line at the terminal check. There is also a low pressure version for lubricating journals, etc., where steam pressure doesn't oppose the oil flow.
Re: Nathan D.V.7 Lubricator
Dick,
At one time I had made master patterns for shooting wax and making two wax terminal check valves of the Nathan design. Howard Gorin cast them for me and I have no clue what happened to the master patterns. You might reach out to him and see if he still has them and has any castings in stock.
For dimensions, I measured a full size terminal check valve and scaled down to 1.6 scale.

It will be a long time, if ever, before I will be able to do that level of super detailing. I noticed them in the Nathan lubricator booklet and was curious if anyone have ever tried to include them in their modeling.

Dan Smoley in Australia makes the check valves ,distribution manifolds as well as the DV 7 and numerous other versions of Nathan and I think some Detroit lubricators .
His products are very good and very detailed .

Re: Nathan D.V.7 Lubricator
Hello Chris,
I wonder if you know the solution for my A?
The casted housings were just of scale 1 ", but that was what I had. There are just two independent pump elements of 0.1 " dia by 1/8 " stroke Thus watchmakers accuray isn't necessary . The pistons are pressed in and drawn out just by axial forces due to sliding crossheads Capacity was increased by means of an enlarged back hood.
These Nathans DV 7 worked fine for some time now at my A.
Housings of correct scale 1 in 10 would be better of course regarding capacity!
Just my two cents

Re: Nathan D.V.7 Lubricator
N&W also added reservoirs to the lubricators to increase the range. Just simple steel boxes piped into the Nathan casting.
I’ll ask my contact for some photos.
Steamchris, did you get my email?

They have done the same thing on the 4014. Welded up out of sheet steel, painted black like everything else and you can't see them unless you look real close.
