Ejector problem

Post by hoppercar »

I decided to put vaccuum.brakes on my mikado tender, this is my first go.around with vaccuum brakes, wanted to give it a try...locomotive and cars, are all air brakes.....the ejector works fine when I blow air thru it. It pinches the tender.brake shoes down.tight.....but on steam....zippo....I cant get it to do squat ???....anybidy else have this trouble ?....since the airline allready.runs under the tender, to the rest of the train...if I cant get it to work satisfactorily, this winter, I could always add an air cylinder, and do away with the vaccuum brakes ??

Adjust the orifice back or forward across the suction hole. If it works on air OK, it would require a positioning adjustment to get it to work on steam.

Both steam ejectors I purchased long ago from LocoParts worked fine new, and still do.
I suspect an issue with your ejector design.
