Annealed copper “work hardens” by cold forming. I don’t know of any way to harden it by heat-treating.

Something no one has mentioned - I turn off the lights when silver soldering.
It is easier to see the color change in the dark.

I do mine in low light but not in the dark, I'd have to get organized to do that. Probably light my pants on fire or something.
