I don't recall hearing about the derailing issue but Howard does have it, last I knew. Got to see it once when I first moved to MA. I think he has put the new tires on the drivers but got into replacing the side rods and hasn't proceeded past that point.

I have the complete set of Timken 1111 drawings from the CSRM. the set is very complete including booster drawings. Should be every thing you need to build a model. Ed

Broadway Limited has just released an HO scale brass-hybrid model of the NP A-3 locomotive, very close to the 1111 (later the NP 2626.)

The first ho brass engine I ever bought is a NP 4-8-4 one of the NJ International Custom Brass royal series.. bought in about 1979 or 1980. While its a good running locomotive these new modern models run so much better and come painted.

The 4 Aces that the late Phil Wonder completed was started I believe,George Litzen . I hear it was built to 7 1/16"gauge,true 11/2"scale. Litzen never finished it. Phil got it, widened the gauge out to 71/4". The loco had very little play in the running gear,and was prone to derailing if it didn't like the track . An absolutely magnificent machine though.

I've only seen some prints in photo albums at the club. You wouldn't want to see it in its present condition.

Asteamhead, all of the 1.5" Ken Schroeder Shays are 100% ball bearing (since 1972 i believe), but of course that's a different breed.
