Bertha the Steam Engine

Post by bill4227 »

Has anyone built the "Bertha the Steam Engine" by Edward G. Warren for the Clishay as described in the Modeltec issues of June/July and August/ September 2000 issues?

I have a few questions as there was no information included on setting up linkage for the reverse, a mechanical lubricator and an engine driven water pump. While I could engineer these features myself I thought I could get some other input

Did you ever finish the bertha steam engine? The valve doesn't match the port face. I thin there is an error in the plan.

I did finish the engine and you are correct about the valve. I used the dimensions that are used for the Clishay valve and it works great. The engine runs well and I have fabricated the reverse linkage that was not on the original drawing.
