A little help needed

Post by Gra2472 »

Hi guys, I sold a locomotive to young man in Florence Alabama and I need to find some help getting it there. I am trying to keep shipping costs to a minimum for him because I know how hard it is to get into the hobby at a young age. I am headed to St. Louis tomorrow and will be there by Friday if all goes well. I am looking for someone to haul the locomotive the last leg from St Louis to Florence. Perhaps we can negotiate a deal.

The locomotive is a kit, and is in a large plastic tote. No need for a trailer, a car or pickup will do fine.

That's gonna be a long haul!

I know someone who is traveling to St. Louis from Knoxville, TN (and vise versa) this coming weekend, but Knoxville is on the wrong side of the state from Florence.

Can you PM me a photo of the locomotive kit? I may be able to offer some ideas.

BTW, I am in St. Louis. What are you traveling to St. Louis for, if I can ask?

Getting it to Knoxville would be a big leg-up, at least it would be in the South. And then a Knoxville-Nashville hookup could get it to me. If it ended up in my hands would the buyer have any ability to travel, to connect with me?

If someone is traveling from St. Louis to Knoxville, they are likely to be going through Nashville enroute.

That's a possibility, depending upon whether they choose to take the Southern route (Nashville), or the Northern route (Louisville/Lexington.)

Either way. I can find a storage spot until the stars align to get it closer to the new owner. I have a friend traveling from St Croix to Nashville next week sometime, can see if he is willing to pass through St. Louis. But at the cost of gas, I will offer to explore a few other options.

Super awesome and thanks guys, but the buyer has made their own arrangements with his friends. You guys are awesome for stepping up to help.
