And this is how I adapted this blast stack to the locomotive. Maybe a little port match.

This is some 303 stainless hex that I ordered by mistake so not to waste it I turned 2 large nail looking plugs to a close fit into the horizontal cross drilled holes. I was going to angle the end for flow but decided to blunt the end so no chance of rotational blockage if the undecided sealant let's go.

Decided to go for the supply passage before I change halfs.
Set up to drill down Inside steam chest carefully not to deep and hit head stud hole in pic 3
Notice I came in low on the cross drill on purpose to miss the steam chest stud holes but I suspect they are thin. In the last pic a ball mill cleaned up the intersection.

I drilled the steam supply intersection at 90 degrees I wanted to angle the drill but it interfered with the blast stack. I considered a compound angle but at the end decided the 1/2" hole will flow a considerable amount of steam even at 90 degrees. Drilled and tapped for 3/8" NPT for the block off and the steam inlet will be a 3/8 pipe nipple and fitting to 1/2 flare . The pic shows a 3/8 flare.
Time to catch the other cylinder up with this one. Jim

Just a few shots of the passages from the ports. Last shot is looking back to the port. I drilled 2 3/8" holes instead of 3 7/32" holes which is the area of the delivery.

Jim, I think you either need to mill those port openings deeper or relieve the cylinder head.
Don't forget the cylinder head projects into the bore.

Early in this build I reached out to Marty he is a wealth of knowledge of these locomotives . On the cylinders he recommended to smooth out the exhaust and to make sure the passages at the head were open more. Jim

Marty was right I did need to notch out more on the cylinder. I bought some play doh to check the opening and it was about 0.150" so the die grinder was used to open it up to about 0.300". I went ahead and port match the blast stack.
