I have finally made enough little pieces to where I could assemble something. Here is the water pump that will someday be mounted into the bottom of the tender. I took it for a test drive in the kitchen sink and yes, it does actually pump water!

With your work looking like that... You're going to be great doing the rest of this locomotive. Just keep plugging at it, and you'll eventually get there. Obviously your metalworking skills are pretty good.

Yep. Your progress bodes well for a fine finished locomotive.
Not quickly, but with a great deal of satisfaction.

Excellent work Adam!
I echo what Russ wrote above - There's lots of satisfaction in getting something that you made to work.

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement! I am doing a little bit every chance I get, which is often in 5-10 minute increments. Here is a picture of the recently completed journal boxes for the tender.

Do you need 4 inch copper piping for the boiler?
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I have not purchased any of the copper for the boiler. The fact that you guys are both asking makes me think that it is as hard to buy as toilet paper right now. Should I be concerned?

No -- It can be obtained in the states and in the UK. But if Bill has it and wants to unload some, he is very knowledgeable about copper boilers so I would take a very hefty bet that the material that Bill has is the proper material. Might be worth working out a price with him :-)

Doesn't the Raritan project have an alternate boiler design using larger diameter copper pipe? Why am I thinking that?
If so, that might be recommended for functionality.
Others here know more.
Just a thought...
