#2 Morse Taper Tooling Needed For Old Bridgeport M
Hello Gang,
I am a new member, 58 years old, and a machinst "wanna be". I acquired an old Bridgeport BH Model Round Ram Mill with and old M-head on it that uses a #2 Morse Taper spindle. I am looking for tooling for this old mill as well as any literature that I can find on it especially a maintenance manual that I can use to restore it. I would appreciate any help that the members of this group could render me. Thanks in advance for your concern and help.

An ER32 (ER20,ER40,etc.) collet chuck might be one way to go. Fairly nice imports with a MT2 shank are available. This is more expensive to start, but might be useful in the long run.
You can also go the route of either MT2 collets or holders. These tend to be a bit hard to find reasonably on Ebay, so you might want to buy used. Try to find a source of decent used/resharpened end mills.
I'm sure others will add lots of sources. One place is www.grizzly.com ... Grizzly tools . . . with many of these items at reasonable cost. Enco is another source, with monthly specials via catalog or web. Have fun!

Seemed like MSC had the 3/8-16 collets for MT2, largest is 1/2" if I recall correctly.
One thing, you need to make sure you do not have the B&S #7 (?) spindle because they are slightly different. If you have a MT2 center which sticks tightly into the end of the quill then you are probably OK.
My only drawback was using the drill chuck. I always wanted to have a drawbar drill chuck for added security but I never got around to trying to draw the tang back to something soft enough I could drill & tap.
Good luck with the M-head. They're lots of fun! If only that old mill could tell stories.....

Re#2 morse tapers ...in canada Busybee has blank #2 stubs for 7-10$ can .
I have used these to make up tooling for my mill, they have 1" x2" stubs .
They also have morse tapers for several drill chucks sizes.

Thanks Jeff for all of this valuable information. The Little Machine Shop site has everything I have been looking for even the #2 Morse Taper to 33 Jacobs Taper Arbor with 3/8 - 16 threads for my drawbar. They have the collets and the boring head, great little site.

Thanks Matt for the information. Matt go to the site below:
http://littlemachineshop.com/products/p ... uctID=1752
They have the #2 Morse Taper to 33 Jacobs Taper Arbor that is threaded for the 3/8 - 16 drawbar and then you can acquire a 33 Jacobs Taper drill chuck and you will be in business. I just ordered one myself.

Glad to help. When I was in search of a mill, I was looking at a Round Ram M-Head, so I did alot of seaching beforehand to make sure I could find MT2 tooling, and I convinced myself that MT2 tooling was readily available and not an issue for me (at least for the hobby stuff I wanted to do).

Collets only go up to 1/2", but you can get 2MT endmill holders in 5/8 and 3/4.
