Quick and Dirty Power Drawbar for a Bridgeport Mill

Post by c7z06 »

Until I can decide what kind of power drawbar to buy, I came up with this approach to attaching and removing R-8 tooling.

A Milwaukee right angle attachment and Milwaukee right angle impact driver provide just the right amount of torque to easily seat and unseat my tooling. If I don't overdo it when tightening, the tooling will come out without the use of a rubber hammer. If the hammer is needed - no big deal.

The trigger of the impact driver rests against the head of the mill. This allows you hold it near the bottom and give it a slight nudge to operate the trigger. I made a little holster to hold the impact driver when not in use.

Creative!
And I like your artistic belt cover door on the head. 'Never seen one like that before.

Dust vents for when you smoke the belt with heavy cuts

I like the idea....avoids running the air compressor just to change tools.

Guess the holster does not charge...
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I have the same doors on my Bridgeport. No idea what vintage it is though.

Operating machines is perfectly safe......until you forget how dangerous it really is!
