PM 9X50 knee gib adjustment

Post by Bluesky »

Can anyone tell me which way to go to tighten the gibs? The bottom screw is not pleasant to get to and I'm hoping to not have to try one way and then the other. Thankyou

Most mills of the BP style that I have worked on the gib goes to floor to tighten. In other words loosen the bottom screw and turn the top CW to move gib tighter.

I'm going to assume you mill's knee has tapered gibs, if so, there's no easy way of not going
one way then the other since you have to back out the jam screw in order to use the other screw to adjust the gib.
My PM 932 has tapered gibs and I have to get on and off a small step ladder to adjust the Z axis gib.
