Hello
I have a Sheldon 10" (or 11"? either way) lathe that I'd like to get a new 4-jaw chuck for as the one I've got is rather worn out (or so I think).
I've never had to source a chuck before, but I could use insight on how to shop for one, as well as what to know when sourcing one.
I am aware of the spindle thread, but from there, I've heard stories about buying a faceplate separate from the chuck, etc, etc, so on, so forth.
Looking forward to hearing what advice you all have.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Buying a new chuck...
Get a chuck with a removable thread plate.
I have a good bison and a good yuasa...but both are 40+ years old.
Suggest that whatever you get has removable top jaws.

Too many things going on to bother listing them.
