Hi
I have been using hypoid oil for my ways on my standard modern lathe 12 x 30.
It has came to my attention to use way oil and I have found a supplier with way oil from 2o weight - to 5o weight
What weight of oil should I be using ? I do have some wear on the beds if this makes a difference?
Thanks
Sandman

Re: way oil
If it is a clunky old lathe...bar and chain oil for chainsaws works quite well.
Is what I use on my severely worn but very usable old South Bend that I cannot justify doing anything with but taking care of and using as required.

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I also use bar & chain oil on my Logan lathe and on my Avey/Burgmaster frankenmill (except on the ways for the knee: there I use spray lithium grease).

Walmart bar and chain oil.. All the way oil one would ever need.. Cheers from Louisiana; Mike
