Looking for a 2”-5tpi backing plate

Post by Glenn Brooks »

Hello all,

Seeking a 5” or 6” chuck backing plate with a 2” - 5 TPI. This is an old, 1930’s thread for early day Van Norman milling machines. Anybody have a lead on such a thing??

Thanks

I think you need to buy a cast iron blank and machine it to suit.
That's what I did.

I found 6 and 8", but I couldn't source a 9" for my 4-jaw.
I found that odd; 9" isn't large.
Anyway, probably those things are easier in the US.
